John Ryan founded America’s Window Authority (AWA) in 2002, along with his partner Carl Slocomb. AWA has rapidly grown into one of the largest networks of window dealers in the country.

John Ryan started a window dealership in 1982 in eastern Pennsylvania, and expanded by attracting similar businesses into a network of dealers. After selling his business, and working for several years in the corporate world, by 2002 John wanted to again pursue his passion. He had a vision of offering a technologically advanced window product to the public, and was eager to begin a new enterprise with a manufacturing partner who shared that vision. John brought his 20 years of expertise from that highly successful business to AWA.

Slocomb Industries was founded in 1961 to manufacture vinyl windows, and it later expanded into designing window systems, and extruding window profiles. Newtown Manufacturing was founded in 1979 to manufacture vinyl replacement windows, and for years has purchased window components from Slocomb Industries. Newtown-Slocomb Manufacturing is the combination of these two businesses, with manufacturing facilities in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Newark, DE.

Newtown-Slocomb Manufacturing is one of a handful of companies licensed by Southwall Technologies to product Heat Mirror Insulated Glass, the most energy efficient glass available today, recognized by Popular Science Magazine as one of the 100 most important inventions of the last millennium.
